Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt confirmed for ‘Dark Knight Rises’

After months of negotiations and speculation, Warner Bros. has finally confirmed today that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been officially cast in The Dark Knight Rises.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film is the third and final installment in the current Batman series starring Christian Bale as the titular dark knight.

Both Cotillard and Gordon-Levitt worked with the director on 2010’s Inception. Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member who aids Bruce Wayne’s efforts to expand his dead father’s philanthropic work in Gotham City. Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a policeman assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman).

The film is scheduled for a July 12, 2012 release date.
