James Franco, Edgar Wright & Lucy Walker announced as judges for Vimeo Awards

James Franco will be up to judge in the awards. Not only him but he is joined by a vast celebrity list of directors such as Edgar Wright from Scott pilgrim vs the World and Oscar Nominee Lucy Walker.

Judging for the Narrative category James Franco has earned himself as a collection of result of high ending amazing reviews, as well as a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture made for Television. He also received nominations for an Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award for this memorable performance. Franco earned an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead as well as nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award and recognition from numerous critics’ associations for his starring role in Danny Boyle’s critically acclaimed drama 127 HOURS. His performance alongside Sean Penn in Gus Van Sant’s MILK earned an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actor and he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in David Gordon Green’s comedy PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, where he starred opposite Seth Rogen. He is also known for his starring role as Harry Osbourne in Sam Raimi’s SPIDER-MAN trilogy and Rupert Wyatt’s RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

He also writes and directs films to which recently portrayed a biography on the life of Sal Mineo which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. He has just recently completed OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL for Disney which will be released in March 2013.

Edgar Wright
Edgar wright will be judging for the Original series category and has earned himself from filming at a young age of 14. In 2010, Wright released his first U.S. production of the comic book movie Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World for Universal Pictures, which he co-wrote with Michael Bacall. The film landed on severalcritics top ten lists for the year and among its many nominations for various awards, Wright won the Empire Award and Comedy Central Award for Best Director.

Wright’s passion translates into any project he takes on, whether he’s working on his own film, directing the faux trailer Don’t for the Tarantino/Rodriguez opus Grindhouse or executive producing the critically acclaimed Attack The Block for first time writer/director Joe Cornish, a film that’s taken the festival circuit by storm, earning a number of Audience Awards. Most recently, Cornish and Wright joined forces to collaborate as co-screenwriters on the Steven Spielberg/Peter Jackson animation film The Adventures of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn.

Submissions

Submissions for Vimeo Festival + Awards close on February 20th and filmmakers can submit their work at https://vimeo.com/awards/submit. The embargo is from Wednesday, February 8th at 2pm. Filmmakers have only a few weeks left not only to have the chance to win the best overall prize of $25,000 (plus an additional $5,000 category grant) and have their work seen by millions online, but to also gain exposure to thesehigh-profile judges and industry luminaries to catapult their careers.
