The E1 Entertainment Showcase at Empire’s Big Screen was a mixed bag, with some interesting releases in the next 12 months.

First and foremost was Breaking Dawn: Part 1, where a couple of clips were introduced by MyAnna Buring who plays Tanya. She was extremely charming and was able to play upto the Team Edward vs Team Jacob banter. The clips themselves were painful to watch as Kristen Stewart pouted and squinted her way through the scenes, but die hard Twilight fans have never been troubled by the lack of acting capability before so it will no doubt be a big blockbuster hit. Breaking Dawn: Part 1 is released on 18th November 2011.

We were also treated to an extended scene from The Three Musketeers introduced by director Paul W. S. Anderson. Despite the 3D not adding a huge deal the clip shown was a well orchestrated fight scene which perhaps gives hope that this will be better than Anderson’s usual efforts. However this version is a far cry from the original with flying battle ships and plenty of slow motion and one wonders if the new version has gone a step too far.  The Three Musketeers will be released on the 12th of October 2011.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is the sequel to the poorly received original with Nicholas Cage. This time around they haven got the directors of Crank on board and The Wire’s Idris Elba. Early footage suggests it will be a great improvement on the original and will be set for release on 22nd February 2012.
