LOVERS LANE BLU RAY REVIEW

Of course, Slasher films have taken a back foot over at Arrow. This is due to all of those lovely films coming up for licence from China and Hong Kong. With normalcy sort of restored, the Arrow team have returned to firm ground with LOVERS LANE. The kind of slasher film that surfaced in the late 90s and early noughties, which was cashing in and living off of the boom of infinetly better fare. I say this because also often, said films knicked ideas and objects of utilisation in murderous rampage, from said other films (alos urban legends and campfire tales). This made the gimmick sweeted by having some familiarity. Like a lot of American slashers as well, this features a face you and many of the fee paying public might recognise. Here it is Anna Faris. Yes that lady from all those comedy vehicles and now playing in podcasts and the upcoming film THE ESTATE. I have always liked and have seen, star shine and dim in the last few years. She plays as teen chattel in a mediocre role but your arent here for that, you are here for the hook handed killer no?

Valentine’s Day. Sex in the backseat of a car on lovers lane? Why not. Thirteen years ago, a hook handed monster, murdered a handful of randy teens and was sent down for it. He was less than happy as he loves teens blood and guts. So when he breaks out and is back to haunt (or hunt), its murderous killer one, teens who linger around, dead. The County Sheriff Tom Anderson (Matt Riedy) wants to stop this evil before it happens again but also wants to avenge his dead wife, who died in another man’s car. Their daughter Mandy (Erin J. Dean) and her classmate Michael (Riley Smith) want to spend a little while up at LOVERS LANE for a mix of perverse thrills and deadly kills.

Arrow are to be credited with restoring a below average film in a shiny, slightly wet looking print restoration. Then supein it up with extras that are varied but mostly very good (the commentary is very good indeed to be honest, delivering an insight into hustle, struggle and Hollywood). Then adding a brilliant extra to the end, The Legacy of Lovers Lane, that might have been worth the price of the set. However, the film sucks and I am being kind here.
