Toy Story 3 reaches animation history

Toy Story has overtaken ‘Shrek 2‘ at the worldwide box office, with a towering total, currently standing at $940m. Already standing at number 9 on the all-time highest grossing films, it looks to be the most popular animation we’ll see for a while.

This ranks as Disney’s highest grossing animated film of all time and it’s fourth most profitable film (1st being ‘Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man’s Chest‘). We do wonder whether or not another film will be released next year despite the rather poignant final scenes of TS3. Pixar is currently working on a short, featuring Woody and Buzz to be shown before the screenings of ‘Cars 2’, which has a release date of 24th June 2011.

Having become only the 2nd film ever to earn over $400m in the US, it seems like TS3 will continue to grow on the global platform, capturing the hearts and minds of children, adolescents and adults alike.
