50 Shades of Grey not for Emma Watson?

Harry Potter star, Emma Watson has denied speculation that she will play Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, based upon the book written by EL James. The Social Network and Moneyball producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti will oversee the film adaptation for Universal and Focus Features.

The Harry Potter star, who has been named as a “frontrunner” for the adaptation, told Entertainment Weekly that she has not even read the bestseller.

“I haven’t read the book, I haven’t read a script, nothing,” she said. “There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call.

Stars such as Emma Roberts and Lucy Hale have been linked to the Ana role. True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgård has expressed an interest in playing the role of Christian Grey.

Fifty Shades of Grey has topped best-seller lists around the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States. The series has sold 31 million copies worldwide, with book rights having been sold in 37 countries, and set the record as the fastest-selling paperback of all time, surpassing the Harry Potter series
