CURSED FILMS BLU RAY REVIEW

What stories could you say about horror films and their making or legacy?

Well the first series of CURSED FILMS was all about reviewing those films that have a bunch of stories that zip around them. Then make a case for us all to care about them. Finally throw them away as trash. These rumours (for that is really what they are, heightened by the baying mob of the internet) have floated around for years. As a kid, I heard them. As an adult I wondered about them a little. I generally have had them dispelled by years in the film world. Skeletons are often real dead people, actors have normal lives and some sadly die in them, accidents happen often from neglegence (see Alec Baldwin at the moment). Clarifying points here and making these stories that float around, seem less interesting as a recourse to discussing the films. And what films they choose. “The Exorcist,” “The Omen,” “Poltergeist,” “The Crow,” and “Twilight Zone-The Movie”. This is series one by the way. A second series has gone out and likely will make it to a disc near you.

Is it worth your time?

There are certain horror movies for which on-screen and off-screen merge in infamy. These films are certainly up there and as the Directors Commentary establishes, the ones most people in the film universe, care about. Problem is, you know where it is going and though you learn some very interesting legends arent stories but fact (Gregory Peck was on a plane struck by lightning) and others are factually mis managed broadly (Heather O’Rourke did die of a genetic, intestinal illness and it was the fault of the hospital, which the family sued).  Shudder deliver a documentary series that is very solid but not very inspirationally delivered or break any new ground. Most of this is well known in the filmic world. The choices of films to cover is great mind “The Exorcist,” “The Omen,” “Poltergeist,” “The Crow,” and “Twilight Zone-The Movie”-and features the perspectives of creators and fans concerning the eerie mythology that each has spawned.
