BOB CLARK HORROR COLLECTION 101 FILMS BLU RAY

101 Films are setting out their stall delightfully in the last year. With AGFA, Black Label films and the Red Label all releasing great films that they have actually treated rather well. They now present the Bob Clark Horror Collection. This collects a previous release of BLACK CHRISTMAS, with two new films, which are the cult classic CHILDREN SHOULDNT PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS and DEATHDREAM. If you know Bob Clark or any of his works from this 70s period, you know he was on top form as a creative and his work here are the best of his filmography, with a cult horror masterpiece, a social horror commentary and a gender slasher horror which excited feminists.  I wont go over too much of what is there but instead will discuss the copious extras because that is what you want to know…

BLACK CHRISTMAS
There is not much new parts and the complete replication of the old disc. These contain very good pieces and a few of the old parts really still are worth taking with you. Replicated, with the commentaries, the print and extras. Still a great film.
CHILDREN SHOULDNT PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS
Well this set is something I havent seen before. I saw the film in the VHS age and didnt get it. Now, with age and time I do. The extras are broadly excellent. Those who love the film, will get real pleasure from the interview with Ken Goch. It shines a little light of Clark, his mood and style. The commentary is a more fun thing, with it being more about the collective creation of the film, afterwards and how they reflect on the films status. Alan Ormsby, Jane Daly and Anya Cronin all give us a taste of the friendly push they have on the film.
DEATHDREAM
My favourite film on the set, a clever Vietnam horror film, is both underserved and given the best treatment. First up, Travis Crawford and Bill Ackerman dissect the film, genre and the legacy of Vietnam. Yes, that headache of American making. I really like Crawford’s skill at talking about something without dumping his intelligence on the listener. Ackerman is more personable, with an edge of the sort of guy who might be suited for essays but gives solid lectures. The feature length doc, Dreaming of Death, leaves nothing to escape from the film and its making.
