With 29 days to go, we thought we might lift the gloom for a more side splitting affair (that will not involve a knife or sharp object). Now there have been many a send up, parody, satire and sardonic slice (no pun intended) about the art of the slasher, but none have quite pulled it off like our next entry!
29 – STUDENT BODIES (88 Films)
WHATS IT ABOUT?
Well the local town of Lamab and its High School are seeing the body count rise rapidly. A horrible serial killer, locally dubbed The Breather is dispatching teenage victims in a series of ever more odd ways. Paper clips, wooden statues and well, they are just strange. The faculty seem a little unconcerned, so the student body might have to work out another way to survive.
WHY SHOULD WE WATCH IT FOR HALLOWEEN?
The central conceit of many a film at Halloween is that it will deliver on something. Gore, thrills, jumps, shocks or a mixture of these things. STUDENT BODIES delivers on laughs. Belly deep, rib tickler laughs. If you are a slasher fan or hate them with a passion, this send up gets a lot right about the genres excesses and successes. From its clever rip on the sole killer, to the oddity of suspects, by way of the rather uncaring adults, the film delivers just enough to make it a fun addition to a Halloween for the more milder taste.
WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK OUT FOR?
I would have to say the BODY COUNT and UNOPENED monitors. A fun drinking game can be had with these!
