Day 31 PROPHECY (EUREKA)
WHATS IT ABOUT?
Well we already went over this in some detail in our review http://www.frontrowreviews.co.uk/dvdblu-ray/prophecy-blu-ray-review/50189 but in a nutshell, A killer bear attacks the unsuspecting scientists that are trying to settle a dispute between protestors and industrialists. The bear is not all it seems. He has be mutated by heavy pollution of the lakes and rivers. And he wants answers…and blood…
WHY SHOULD WE WATCH IT FOR HALLOWEEN?
Well its a some what absurd mix of environmental politics, business bad practice and elements of horror. They might not have blended well in the work of other film makers but in the hand of seasoned master, John Frankenheimer, it is elevated beyond that B movie stamp to a rather satisfying shock fest.
WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK OUT FOR?
Well the disc is of a new transfer and has excellent extras (I gush over it in the review) but for the big day, its the sense that you might not need to be jumping out of your seat and instead be reasoned in a debate about the morality of money making at the expense of mother nature.

30 – HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP (88 Films)
WHATS IT ABOUT?
The small town of Noyo’s a lovely place. Based on the sea, with a small village feel and a sweet set of bars and boats to complete this picture perfect place for the tourist crowds. Also good is that it is filled with little more than sleeping people and the local tribal elders. The problem is, horrible murders are being reported and people are being attacked and killed. So the locals decide to get together and resolve the issue. Problem is that the murders are being committed by monsters from the very depth of the sea. They have had their fill of pollution and mutated to counter humanities treatment of sea life.
WHY SHOULD WE WATCH IT FOR HALLOWEEN?
This ramps up the camp, coming from Roger Corman we expect little else and pulls off a solid double bill. Blood, guts, brain dead baddies and a final act that is equal parts slashing and stupid, it tops off a great night indeed.
WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK OUT FOR?
The disc has a great set of extras but the best for me are the commentaries from Audio Commentary by Film Critic Kim Newman and Film-maker Sean Hogan and Audio Commentary by Critic and Author Samm Deighan. One takes the film very much as it was meant to be. Slicing it up into form, catalogue and craft with a lot of tongue in cheek. Deighan is more serious but also more special as she delves into the discussion of Corman as autuer of the B movie art form..
