With 15 days left, you had better get your skates on for a film to watch. Here at FRONT ROW, we have looked long and hard at a film from a cinematic mastermind, that was not obvious, nor something many had seen before. We finally found the name that would work. The master of the macabre and magician of the screen. Mario Bava. The only problem then was choosing a suitable film. We could not quite decide on which Mario Bava masterpiece, so went for the most appropriate for the season.
15 – BAY OF BLOOD (ARROW)
WHATS IT ABOUT?
Murder, mystery and blood dripping mayhem ensue on a private bay, owned by an old lady. She is killed by her son and then he is murdered seconds later. His body is removed and hers left to hang in public. The locals suspect foul play. They also seem to be a little hostile to people not local to the area. As things progress, the bodies pile up and the blood spills onto the rocks of the lovely sea front properties.
WHY SHOULD WE WATCH IT FOR HALLOWEEN?
Put bluntly, this is from Bava’s middle period and so his one of his weaker films. It is also a clever enough murder mystery and one that will keep the gore hounds a little happy. Famously also it was banned in the UK for sometime and committed to the Video Nasties list, the main list that is!
WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK OUT FOR?
