At the beginning of the series, Flash Forward looked as if it was going to be something special. In my opinion its now dwindling a little and not really progressing that well. The characters are pretty lame. They are nowhere near the strong characters seen in Lost or The Sopranos.
Episode 4 has shattered my dreams, as a new character has arrived. Dominic Monaghan. You know… the really annoying Hobbit in Lord of The Rings and also the hopeless Charlie from Lost (I was so chuffed when he finally died at the end of Season 3). At the moment he is known only as Simon. Unfortunately we are now destined to see a lot more of him as it seems he is one of the main people responsible for the whole ‘blackout’ thing.
Episode 4 was a bit of a waste of time. Not much happened in the grand scheme of things. We were fobbed off with a story about a guy called Ned. He survived a bus crash during the blackout and had visions of himself as a super confident black guy. Doctor Olivia still refuses to believe that the flash forwards will actually come true and as a result ignores the obvious signs and nearly kills the guy in theatre. She is doing her best to fight the future, but the young boys dad, Lloyd Simcoe is coming into her life more and more. It has become apprarent that he very much has the mannerisms of Steve Coogan – without being funny. It now also seems that he has something to do with Simon.
If you can’t wait for the upcoming episodes, then fear not – you have an option – the original book by Robert J Sawyer. Not quite the same but it would help with all these annoying cliffhanger endings.
