We are now getting properly underway with the new TV series that everyone is talking about. And rightly so, it is setting itself up to be an all time classic. So far we have been introduced to the main characters whose stories will unfold over the forthcoming weeks. The main player is FBI Special Agent Mark Benford played by Joseph Fiennes. Many people who had the flash forward had visions of weddings, people they were with, family etc – Benford has visions of investigating the case and several masked people hunting him down in his office with laser guided automatic weapons. He also sees the image of the investigation wall – full of clues that we are likely to track down at the rate of one per week.
This week, the clue was a German guy, former Nazi Rudolph Geyer. He is serving life imprisonment for his crimes but in his flash forward sees his return to the US at the airport. He then knows that he must contact Benford and pass on some information in exchange for his release. He claims to have information as to why the flash forward lasted for exactly 137 sekunden (or seconds to me and you). So, the meeting is set and the FBI agree to have him extradited and all charges dropped. In return he gives them some information about dead crows. Initially it seems like he has scammed them but it turns out that the crows death is related to the flash forward and that there has been a previous incident when the crow population died drastically… and so the mystery deepens.
It is all very intriguing but there is a bit too much lightweight scripting going on to be a truly first class series. At the moment, its good, but how good? Only time will tell. With all good long running TV shows there needs to be a high quality of cliffhanger ending to each and every episode, and so far Flash Forward has delivered that. The only annoying thing is that it won’t be released on DVD for ages – so until then we are forced to wait patiently for another week until the next installment… and another cliffhanger!
