Heard of a film called The Social Network? It was only one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2010 and the latest in a row of brilliant films from director, David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac). Ring a bell then? The film, which was based on the novel ‘The Accidental Billionaires’ by Ben Mezrich, was written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) and the music was provided by Nine Inch Nails frontman, Trent Reznor along with musical partner, Atticus Rose. Coming Soon reports that the musical duo are due to reteam with Fincher for the American adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the bestselling Stieg Larsson thriller is the first in the Millenium trilogy and follows the computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander and political journalist, Mikael Blomkvist. The trilogy continued in The Girl Who Played with Fire & The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. The three books were adapted in 2009 in Sweden and featured Michael Nyqvist as Blomkvist and Noomi Rapace as Salander. Last year it was announced that Fincher would remake the films in English to gain a larger audience but many hope that he will capture a feeling that was not seen in the original trilogy and will make the films feel original.
The acclaimed soundtrack from The Social Network is rumoured to be nominated in the upcoming Academy Awards.
The English version of the film stars Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer and Stelland Skarsgard and is scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 21.
