Harrison Ford was injured at Pinewood Studios yesterday and had to be air lifted to a local hospital. Ford was crushed by a falling hydraulic door and reportedly sustained a broken ankle.
The 71 year old is filming the latest Star Wars film and will continue shooting as soon as he recovers. A spokesman reported:
“Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Harrison was hit by the door and looked in a bad way and was clutching his chest when he was on the stretcher.”
The film crew is hoping Ford’s injury is not long term as it would delay production of the film. Ford was taken to John Radcliffe hospital where his injuries were diagnosed.
“He is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and no chances were being taken so he got into a helicopter and was taken away in a lot of pain. His foot was damaged too. The cast and crew were sent home for the day, even though it was 5pm and the beginning of a night shoot. Harrison’s injury and what happened is going to mean changes to the schedule and problems and issues that need to be solved.”
“But the main thing at the moment is making sure Harrison is OK.”
Ford starred in the first Star Wars film in 1977 and continues his role as Han Salo 31 years later. The Star Wars plot also occurs approximately 30 years after the Return of the Jedi.
