Variety are reporting that star of Antichrist and Melancholia, Charlotte Gainsbourg is currently in talks to star for a third time with director Lars von Trier in The Nymphomaniac, an explicit exploration of a woman’s erotic life or as von Trier has described it, as an “erotic birth”.
The picture is currently at script stage and is being slated for next summer or fall release.
Penned by von Trier, Nymphomaniac is said to be divided into eight chapters and released in two versions — a softcore cut for mainstream distribution and a hardcore one.
Gainsbourg starred in von Trier’s last two films, Melancholia and Antichrist, which earned her the best actress honor at Cannes in May. Melancholia won best film at this month’s European Film Awards in Berlin.
In the meantime watch out for Gainsbourg’s latest CD, Stage Whisper, which is due for release in the UK in January.
