I remember Mark Cousins revealing this delightfully disturbed film in the series Moviedrome. He positioned it as a slow churning example of Brian Yuzna’s punchy 90s output. He also suggested that the film played on the ideas of society, lizard people and the power of the illuminati in the fringes of cult worlds.

WHATS IT ABOUT?
Bill Whitney (Billy Warlock) wants to be rich, successful and pretty and living with his parents and sister in a mansion in Beverly Hills, California, he needs to be all three. But Bill is worried. He tells his therapist Dr. Cleveland that he does not trust his high-society family. His sisters ex-boyfriend David (Tim Bartell) gives him a recorded tape of what sounds like a murderous orgy, Bill suspect his fears are justified. What he will reveal however, will blow his little mind!
WHY SHOULD WE WATCH IT FOR HALLOWEEN?
Body horror is a taste thing really. Some hate it. Others love it. When I first layed eyes on SOCIETY it was a sensory overload for me and one that I expect will be for many. This is all in a good way. I saw this first on holiday in Worthing at the tender age of 13, a few years before Mark C revealed it to the world and this is also important. You make a calculated judgement on what it means and more importantly, why it matters. This started my love for splatter and substance in my horror films!
WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK OUT FOR?
Arrow are the most consistent label for additional content but the real gem here is the whole uncut deliciously slimy, sex scenes at the end of the film. Watch it in awe!
