The screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthys The Road is released in the UK on 8 January 2010,  and I’d recommend putting the book on your Christmas wish list, as its a great page turner. McCarthy also wrote No Country for Old Men, which was adapted by the Coen Brothers in 2007 and won four Oscars, and it looks like this  screen adaptation of The Road may sweep up some more come March. Directed by John Hillcoat it stars Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall and tells the story of a father and son walking alone through burned America, heading through the ravaged landscape to the coast
