Starring: Nicholas Cage, Chandler Canterbury, Rose Byrne
The film begins in 1959, with the students of an elementary school writing letters about their lives that are going to be buried in a time capsule at the school and dug up again 50 years later. One particularly odd girl, Lucinda, doesn’t write a normal letter – she just writes a series of numbers.
Fast forward 50 years and there is a grand ceremony of the opening of the time capsule. A young boy, Caleb is the one who receives the letter from Lucinda. Caleb father, John Koestler (Nicholas Cage) happens to be a professor at MIT and he discovers the page of numbers that his son has. By accident he realises that the 9/11 was predicted in these set of numbers. He then goes on to unravel the codes and relate them to specific events and disasters that have happened over the last 50 years.
All very interesting, however there are now some events that are due to happen in the future. What are John and Caleb going to do about it? I’m going to spoil it.
Its an entertaining film but the plot is a little flimsy, there is enough to get into and the actors deliver some reliable performances. Some nice graphics and effects to round it off, nothing ground breaking, but definitely worth a watch.
