Starring: Nicholas Cage, Bridget Moynahan, Jared Leto
Based on a true story, Lord of War is an all action thriller that tells the amazing story of Yuri, a gun runner from the US supplying African countries during the 80’s. Suppling African dictators like Andre Baptiste, Uri Orlov’s tale begins in Brooklyn, when we works in his families run down restaurant as an immigrant from the Soviet Union. Realising that his potential is wasted behind the kitchen of a dead restaurant, Yuri ventures out and starts selling guns to locals. As this takes off, he realises that he is not making enough money becuase his numbers are too low. Its this decision that defines Yuris life and that of his brother, Vitalay.
An excellent portrayel of a gun runner and his experieinces and lifestyle, Lord of War suprisingly gives insight into many areas of Africa, particularly the blood diamond trade and how boy soldiers were employed to kill. One of Nicholas Cages best films without a doubt.
