Starring: Sacha Baron Cohen, Ken Davitian
Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius. He offends people from all over the world and gets paid for it. That is genius. His portrayal of a Kazakhstan person can be applied to many foreign groups visiting one of the superpowers such as the US. Being of an Indian background I think this is why I appreciate the somewhat basic comedy so much. This film is fantastic for its simply stupid humour. None the less, the film is very funny and has some excellent moments.
Sacha plays Borat, a “Kazach” destined to travel to the great America, to learn and share all that the country has to offer. The movie shows Borats experiences and interpretations of the American way of life, and how different it really can be to a Kazach. The most entertaining thing about this film is that many of the situations Borat creates for the people around him are not just sketches with actors, the people are real, and more importantly, their reactions are real.
A key moment that springs to mind is when Borat is introducing his sister and telling us a bit about her achievements in life… definitely one to put on your list.
