Nomad Cinema at The LookOut, Hyde Park this Halloween

An eventful October reaches its climax as The Nomad heads back to The LookOut, Hyde Park for its double dater for Halloween. Showing Friday 30th is Tim Burton’s creepy cult favourite Beetle Juice and Carrie – A cult treatment by Brian DePalma of Stephen King’s debut novel – high school cruelty, teen angst and the supernatural – one of the genre’s true classics, starring Sissy Spacek who finally lashes out against her teen tormentors in the most memorable prom night in cinema history. Then on Saturday 31st is contemporary comedy horror, Joss Whedon’s The Cabin In The Woods – Capable of being funny, strange and scary – frequently all at the same time. Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen. If you think you know this story, think again. And finally Hitchcock’s classic Psycho – Infamous for its shower scene, but immortal for its contribution to the horror genre. Because Psycho was filmed with tact, grace, and art, Hitchcock didn’t just create modern horror, he validated it.

In our very own cabin in the woods, The LookOut will once again be firing up the outdoor fire pits for toasting marshmallows; audiences will receive a glass of fizz on arrival and scrumptious hot food is included in the ticket price.

Beetlejuice – 30th October, 7pm

Beetlejuice is perfect Halloween fun. Brilliantly bizarre and overflowing with ideas, this is one of Michael Keaton’s most deliciously manic performances. Creepy and huge 1980’s fun from Tim Burton.

Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin are killed in a freak car accident, and upon arriving in the outer offices of Heaven, the couple finds that, thanks to a century’s worth of bureaucratic red tape, they’re on a long celestial waiting list. Before they can earn their wings, Davis and Baldwin must occupy their house for 50 years. Dismayed as a living family of obnoxious New Yorkers move in (played here wonderfully by Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder) they do everything in their ghostly power to scare the living out. Their tactics have little success, so in an act of desperation they call in ‘bio-exorcist’ Beetlejuice. Here the fun really begins: Michael Keaton runs riot as the ‘ghost with the most’, injecting a good dose of mayhem to proceedings.

Join us at The LookOut, Hyde Park for this classic Tim Burton outing of oddity and extra eyeballs.

Tickets include a glass of fizz on arrival, a delicious hot meal [veggie option available], themed craft activities [optional!] and marshmallows to toast at our firepits.

A cult treatment by Brian DePalma of Stephen King’s debut novel – high school cruelty, teen angst and the supernatural – one of the genre’s true classics, starring Sissy Spacek who finally lashes out against her teen tormentors in the most memorable prom night in cinema history. Spacek is a marvel, hysterical, radiant and terrifying. Her reprisals for the cruel trick played on her by classmates are sure to be a perfect fright!

Carrie offers loads of period atmosphere plus a great supporting cast featuring John Travolta!
