Rodriguez Announces ‘Machete’ and ‘Sin City’ Sequels at Comic-Con

Today at Comic-Con Rodriguez announced his future plans, including his new production company called Quick Draw.

He also plans to make Machete Kills, and even Machete Kills Again after the DVD success of Machete. “Even if we don’t get to three, I’m at least making the trailer for three because it’s so good. I would put it even before part two,” Rodriguez commented. “Machete goes into space! It’s like ‘Moonraker.’”

Also on the cards is the long awaited sequel to Sin City. “Frank has written a script for Sin City 2. It’s called A Dame To Kill For. We’re following the structure of the first film with 3 stories and a wrap-around. There’s two new stories in there; one is called The Long Bad Night. It could be shot as early as this year – this is the closest we’ve been and if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen this year. I’d love to do that in 3D, because I have an idea to do that in a way that 3D hasn’t been used before.”

Spy Kids 4 is also due next month, starring Jessica Alba and Antonio Banderas and will also be in ‘4D’: “Spy Kids 4 is out next month. That’s going to be in 4D, and that means there’s going to be scratch-and-sniff. This stuff smells amazing. There are 8 instances during the movie where a number will flash on the screen and you then smell that. Some of those are pretty good and some are very wrong. Even if you’re not a kid you’re going to have fun. I did this with Ricky Gervais and Joel McHale so it’s not just for kids.”

Rodriguez claimed he saved this information for Comic-Con so that it could be heard first by his fans.
