First image of Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel

In 2013, Zack Snyder’s (300, Watchmen) new reboot of Superman in Man of Steel is due to release and yesterday I reported that Laurence Fishburne is to play Perry White. Today, Warner Bros. released their first image of the British Henry Cavill (The Tudors) donning the caped Clark Kent. It’s clear from the image that the colours in the costume have been made darker, perhaps this is a theme for the rest of the film?

The film also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as the Kent parents, Julia Ormond and Russell Crowe as his Kryptonian parents, Michael Shannon as fellow Kryptonian General Zod and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, editor of the Daily Planet. Harry Lennix, Antje Traue and Christopher Meloni also star.

Christopher Nolan is producing, as well as having worked on the story with David S. Goyer, who then wrote the script. We can expect to see the finished piece on or around June 14, 2013.

So what do you think of Superman’s new look, as the photo is quite dark we can’t see what the bottom half of his costume looks like but I am intrigued by this photo op. A dark Superman played by a British actor? A Superman we have’t seen before, what do you think?
