Bruce Willis, currently promoting Kevin Smith’s new comedy Cop Out in the US has told MTV news that “I think we’re going to do a ‘Die Hard 5’ next year.” He also added that he’d like Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman to return to the helm and that the action would probably “go worldwide”. As of yet Bruce is the only one to even suggest a return for John McClane so it’s probably best to not get too carried away just yet.
It’s hard to be sure what to think of this news. Die Hard 4.0 was an exercise in preposterous, dumb fun which could have been any action movie and barely resembled the original film. So what would be the point in a fifth film, it would really only be a Die Hard in name only with Willis playing someone who only vaguely resembles the original character. But then again, it would be some more good, dumb fun and the Die Hard name would secure a tasty budget to blow sh*t up with!
