The first Men in Black film was, you’ll have to agree, pretty awesome. The WIll Smith – Tommy Lee Jones double header managed to create an almost perfect blend of comedy and cool into a solid sci-fi story with blockbuster values. The sequel though, well, the less said about that the better. And that’s why any news about a third outing for Agent Jay (and maybe Agent Kay) must be approached with both anticipation and trepidation.
There have been rumours around for a while that Josh Brolin would be involved, playing a younger version of Kay who Jay travels back in time to team up with – perfect casting as long as you buy into the time-travel elements. The latest rumours though are for a new character called Yaz, with Sacha Baron Cohen and Jemaine Clement (of Flight of the Conchords fame) apparently on the studio’s wish list. Both would seem perfect additions for the franchise (with my preferred choice being Clement) and would certainly up the comedy quotient for the potential threequel.
