Yes Man is a triumph for Jim Carrey. His films can sometimes be a bit hit or miss and in recent times have not been that great. This film however is back on track. It has shades of ‘Liar Liar’ but all in all a very enjoyable film.
After ‘The Number 23’ Carrey has returned to what he knows best. Comedy with a romantic twist. Jim plays the character ‘Carl Allen’ who is a boring office worker, trapped in a lonely lifestyle of endless video renting after his wife left him. He is scared to take risks and do anything spontaneous.
This all changes when he bumps into an old friend who convinces him to go to a new age seminar on the power of the word YES.
His decides to try the new theory and says yes to everything anyone asks him… immediately getting himself into all manner of strange situations. The romantic interest is Alison (Zooey Deschanel) who plays a very sweet but sort of odd girl who plays in a band.
This is a great film and there are very funny moments. Carl’s bosses Harry Potter themed party and the scene in the chicken factory among them. Jim Carrey back on top form!
