Based on the graphic novel written by Alan Moore, which i believe is the most popular comic based novel ever made.
It charts the story of a bunch of “superheroes” who are part of society and live amongst the population, wearing masks and hiding their identity.
It is set in America in 1985, the US and Russia are battling for supremacy with the fear of nuclear war on everyones mind. The plot revolves around a guy known as The Comedian who is brutally killed at the beginning and the character Rorschach who begins to investigate his death, believing he and all the other heroes to be at risk.
There are some great charcaters, not least of all is Dr Manhattan. The big blue guy.
It is directed by Zac Snyder who was responsible for the great success of the film ‘300’. As you’d expect with a film like this – the effects are amazing. I’ve not read the novel so its hard to compare it to that. However i did find this a little long. It starts off really well but seemed to drag. It was very enjoyable and if you’re a fan of the superhero films you will love this.
