“My Name Is Khan” was unveiled by Star TV on Wednesday (16th Dec). It reunites the legendary on screen couple Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol after eight years. The event was a star-studded one at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai.
Karan Johar is the director of the movie, this means that he is also reunited after eight years. The last movie all 3 done together was “Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham”.
The story revolves around Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh), a Muslim from Mumbai who suffers from a form of Autism. He marries a single Hindu mother Mandira (Kajol) in San Fransisco. They are a happily married couple unil Sept. 11th 2001 when the Muslims become the so-called enemies of the world. During this period Mandira leaves Rizwan, leaving him confused he embarks on a what they call touching and inspiring journey across America.
Karan Johar already produced “Kurbaan”, a movie do with terrorism. Although Shah Rukh has stated this movie has nothing to do with terrorism it has the same genre, “Not all Muslims are bad”. We get the point! Personally I think they should move on, Karan has already tried this out with Kurbaan which didn’t work tremondously well. I’m not sure how well this will do in the box office but the pairing of Kajol and Shah Rukh will surely attract audiences.
The film is said to be released on Feb. 12, 2010.
