Meet the Parents: Little Fockers Film Review

So the third installment is out after a change of director! Can you tell? The answer is painstakingly and unfortunately, YES! Jay Roach was replaced by Paul Weitz, although an equally talented director, he fails to produce the same “wit” as the first two. I am a huge fan of the first two, and have watched them over and over again gazillion times, and can carry on laughing at the same wit & pranks over again. I don’t think I can say the same about Little Fockers.

In this sequel, Greg “Gaylord” Focker (Ben Stiller) plans a birthday party for his twins at his new house which is under renovation. As always nothing goes to plan! Kevin Rawley (Owen Wilson) shows up, and is still obsessed with Gregs wife Pam (Teri Polo). As Jack Byrnes (Robern De Niro) oldest daughter gets cheated on by her husband, he passes on all of the family responsibilties onto Greg and names him the “God-focker”. Greg takes this seriously, and even starts acting out parts from the Godfather movie. As the film goes on Jack again has his trust issues and begins his stalking once again.

Although the film doesn’t meet up to expectations there are plenty of moments to laugh at, and I love the whole “Godfather” theme that has been used, the acting and directing has been pulled off very well throughout. Throughout the film I did think Ben Stiller could do a lot better with some of the wittiness, and use some of the traits from his previous films. Owen Wilson plays the flimsy hippie, who knows everything, and always comes out on top. I’ve always thought those characters suit him well. The beautiful Jessica Alba plays a Drug Rep called Andi Garcia that tries to seduce Greg. This role is something new to her but she pulls it off pretty well as well as looking every inch perfect!

It’s a good watch, but don’t keep your hopes high!
