Clint Eastwood’s Nelson Mandela biopic, a project that has only recently been given the title Invictus is one of the main contenders hitting up for the 2010 Oscars race. Based on the book Playing the Enemy by John Carlin the film stars Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar, the captain of South Africa’s rugby team. Mandela enlists Pienaar’s help to unite South Africa – a task he thinks can be achieved by winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Its not out until 5 February 2010 in the UK but I’ve seen this trailer 3 times this week at the cinema so the hype machine has already started for what looks to be one of 2010’s greatest films.
