How Polla (Arvinder Grewal) is a bad representation of the modern asian man

Arvinder-Grewal-001Last night I saw something which I found extremely rude and eccentric: Arvinder Grewal ordering his wife around as she is made to lift an upturned table the right way up. Thousands watched last nights show and witnessed Sarbjit trying to lift the coffee table on her own, as her inconsiderate, living in the dark ages husband Arvinder sat, watched and criticised her efforts. This was after Arvinder was seen to be trying his hand at a spot of DIY which resulted in him swearing in a punjabi manner which is by no means acceptable in front of females (due to the offensive nature of the words used).

Regardless of your ethnic background, the treatment of Sarbjit in this particular scene is appaling, and does nothing for the public image of modern asians living in britain. Having parents who migrated to Britain I am aware of the stigmas that are associated with our indian culture; arranged marriages, children who all grow up to be doctors/ pharmacists, and women that are responsible for nothing more than completing house chores.

As things are, this may have been the case previously in another country and a past decade, however it is no more. The reason for this is that many asians (like the grewals) moved to Britain with a view to adapt and integrate. Whats unfortunate is that Arvinder hasnt done very well in adapting to modern ways of life, and has publicised on national television an inaccurate portrayel of the modern asian man living in britain.

Arvinder if your reading this, your a disgrace to modern asians in britain and I suggest you return back to the villages of 70’s India where this behaviour and treatment is acceptable.
