After being put back for a whole year, it has finally arrived, just in time for Halloween. Gremlins – The 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-Ray. Has it really been 25 years since Gremlins was released? That makes me feel old!

Whats not to like about Gremlins? Its not quite passable as a kids films although it does have a light hearted nature about it. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love this film and rightly so, its a true classic.

Late one Christmas, a father is desperately trying to find a special unique gift for his son and stumbles across a dusty shop in an alleyway run by an old Chinese man. The man finds a strange creature in the corner, a Mogwai. The old man refuses to sell but his young nephew does a secret deal when the old man’s not looking.

Now the Mogwai are all good unless you break any of the 3 golden rules of looking after them; they must be kept away from bright light, never made wet and never, ever be fed after midnight. Of course all 3 are broken and the result is that the cute, cuddly Mogwai mutate into ugly, evil Gremlins.

This is such a great film and for anyone who has not seen it, make sure you do. Its very charming, funny, has many references to other films and has enough bits to make you jump. Its a very well rounded package. The sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch is not quite as good but still very iconic and well worth a watch. Enjoy!
