Order Drag Me To Hell from Play.com
Starring: Alison Lohman, Chelcie Ross, David Paymer, Fernando Romero
Sam Raimi makes a return to the genre that earned him fame many years ago. His first ventures were ‘The Evil Dead’ trilogy. In more recent years he has directed the Spiderman movies. I’m not a big fan of the very cheesy Spiderman outings – so i’ll leave that there!
In Drag Me To Hell, we follow the story of Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) who works in a bank and in charge of handing out loans. She’s a very sweet girl with a normal life and doting boyfriend. One day she is asked by an old gypsy lady to approve a home loan or she will be evicted. The bank had already previously approved 2 loans and therefore she gets refused. The old lady, Mrs Ganush then attacks her after work and puts a gypsy curse on her.
Christine happens across a palm reading shop and goes in for a session. The guy freaks out and tells her she has been cursed and she has 3 days to stop the demon “Lamia” coming for her. Christine tries to carry on with her life normally but is constantly being confronted by the dark forces.
Its a pretty gruesome film with enough horror splatter and screaming to keep you engaged. All in all its a pretty scary film and one not to miss… the scene with the talking goat is pure quality and a real highlight. And also the ending… a nice touch!
