I’ve not seen the original Crank film but i was intrigued as to what this version had to offer a saw a film trailer and thought it would be a laugh to watch it.
Most people will know of Jason Statham from ‘Snatch’ and more recently ‘The Transporter’. The Jason Statham bio is not extensive and nor is it that great but the concept of this film made me want to see how they were going to pull it off.
The story is this… Statham plays Chev Chelios and at the start of the film, he falls from the sky and lands in the middle of a road. He is quickly scraped up by a group of Triads who want to steal his heart for their boss. In doing so they give him an artificial heart to keep him alive before they proceed on stealing the next organ on the list. He wakes up and realises what is going on and escapes. The only trouble is the battery life for his new heart is limited and after he breaks the battery pack he is forced to charge himself with electricity anyway he can on the way back to retrieving his real heart from the gangsters.
Obviously the film doesn’t take itself that seriously! It is very enjoyable and its actually very inventive and fresh. Its directed almost with a sort of Manga style. Its full of guns, high voltage electricity and naked girls. Definitely one for the boys.
