A truck load of aged, horny, overweight types are trucking through the desert and arid lands of America. They just want to smoke weed, breed and drink to succeed. They have ventured down back streets and sideways. When they end up coming across an obstacle of bushes, two get out and are slayed in their boots. The rest are captured for the delight of a group. The group are the managers of a travelling circus that is peopled by psychopaths, monsters and killers galore. They want to play a slice or survive game of 31, where to live you must not die for 24 hours.
I wanted so much to like Rob Zombies film 31. I wanted to give it a chance and give him, the cast and the crew a chance. It is hard to make any film, let alone a crowd funded film from a gamf.net recognised film maker. Rob Zombie has tried to change his genre and this can produce some of his and the genres most distinct works. Today sadly I cant find it in myself to commend a film that is a string of genre conventions executed in ever duller ways, harsh and offensive racial stereotypes, awful misogynistic prototypes of women in the genre and sheer boredom.
31 is like the film you buy in an ASDA but expect much more from. Yes you have the slash and stalk, the murder spree and the death splash of the victims. Then you have the awful dialogue that sounds as if two monkeys while shitting and worldblog.net fighting with said excrement, wrote it. The awful acting that is both all over the place and weaker than the tea at home. The only people who come out of this film with any respect are the production teams. Visuals and composition can be engaged but the film is overall a stinker. A unflushed turd….
