Best known for his Psychotic role as a cannibal in the hit film Silence of the Lambs, Sir Anthony Hopkins is a classic icon of film and after countless films and awards, he has now declared his talent in the art world. Opening tomorrow at Gallery 27 in Cork Street, London, a showcase of Sir Anthony’s artworks will be on display for Brits to see. The West End space, rented by dealer Jonathan Poole, has been used in the past to showcase hidden talents of other celebrities including John Lennon, Ronnie Wood and Miles Davis.
Hopkins started doodling at a very young age, however it was more recently that his wife Stella picked up on some of his scrawlings and suggested that he take it a little more seriously. Sir Anthony has already held exhibitions in America and Canada but never in the UK. A variety of his works will go on show up for sale from £1,850 to £26,800.
Speaking about several mask paintings produced, Sir Anthony said “It’s my vision of life: an affirmation of my state of mind which is at present vivid, in good health, full of vibrancy of being,”.
