Digital Spy are reporting that at a recent NBC press conference for the new series of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’, Sharon Osbourne, wife of the Black Sabbath rocker, Ozzy, revealed that a biopic of the star is in the works.
“There’s about to be a big announcement, it’s been picked up and it’s going into production.”
She added: “We’re going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. [There’s no cast] yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we’re all starting.”
All you have to do is look at the MTV series ‘The Osbournes’ which ran for four series from 2002-2005 and has been cited as the most watched MTV series of all time. This is a pretty big accolade considering that I am pretty sure MTV doesn’t actually shown as much music as they used to and now spends quite a long time on reality based shows (‘The Hills’, ‘Jersey Shore’ etc) and they appear to have moved most of their music playing over to sister channels, MTV2, MTV Base etc…
When talking about possible cast members, Sharon said that she would like either Carey Mulligan or her daughter, Kelly to play her. When considering who will be playing Ozzy, also known as ‘The Prince of Darkness’, she said that the studio is considering relative unknowns for this major role. For me, I was thinking either Russell Brand or Johnny Depp?
Anyway, lets hope there is plenty of biting the head of bat action, family drama and exploration of the character of Ozzy but please, producers listen! Don’t make the film too realistic, we don’t want to have to read subtitles!
