Gary Oldman

Oldman almost loses the plot (well, the script)

Gary OldmanGary Oldman misplaced the script for the third instalment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, and panicked. He found it only minutes later, but so stringent are the contractual obligations of secrecy for all members of the cast and crew of the film that even the great Gary feared the consequences if he couldn’t find it.

The Oscar nominee and double BAFTA winner is once again playing the role of the loveable, enigmatic Detective/Lieutenant/Commissioner James Gordon in the blockbuster movie. He had hidden the script under his mattress and forgotten about it.

He needn’t have worried (much): none of the cast is given the full screenplay during shooting – both a security and a continuity precaution (in case characters or events change before shooting wraps). Even so, losing the script could have had serious consequences.

It’s a terrible shame that leaked scripts are so immensely popular. Why anyone would want spoilers ahead of seeing the finished film, especially in the case of a much-anticipated mystery such as a Batman movie, is beyond the imagination of this reviewer.
