Madonna , the multi award winning singer and actress is to direct WE, which will the story of King Edward VIII’s affair with divorcee Wallis Simpson.
The story will tell how Edward abdicated the throne in 1936 to be with his lover, causing a constitutional crisis in 1930’s Britain. Although Madonna is still scouting an actor to play the role of Edward, Vera Farmiga is rumoured to be considering the role of Simpson.
Madonna, who now resides in the US, split from her director husband Guy Ritchie in 2008. Even thought they have split, it seems that her past career and influence from Ritchie still remains when it comes to directing.
