Duane Hopkins’ new feature Bypass shooting next month

British artist and filmmaker Duane Hopkins will follow his Camera d’Or-nominated debut feature Better Things (2008) with Bypass, which begins shooting next month.

Bypass is produced by Third Films’ Samm Haillay, who financed writer-director Hopkins’ previous feature as well as his installations and shorts. Exec produced by Illuminations Films’ Keith Griffiths, the film is also supported by the BFI, Film Agency Wales and Sweden’s Film i Väst. Details of its synopsis are scarce, though in 2011 producer Haillay described it as “a morality tale of society’s feared and forsaken”.

The film has an international rights deal with The Match Factory, with its world-premiere planned for next year’s Cannes. Shooting begins in Newcastle next month.
