Brit stars Colin Firth (A Single Man) and Carey Mulligan (An Education) have won the best actor awards at this year BAFTA’s at the Royal Opera House in London. The Hurt Locker, Avatar and An Education dominated the categories as nominees, but it was The Hurt Locker that won Best Film of the year, beating favorite Avatar.
Other wins include The Fish Tank for Outstanding British Film, and Disney Pixars UP for Best Animated Film. Christoph Waltz won the award for his role in Inglorious Basterds for Best Supporting Actor, and Mo’Nique won best supporting actress for playing an abusive mother in the drama Precious.
