Today the film world mourns veteran actor and director Lionel Jeffries who has died aged 83. He was most known for directing The Railway Children and appearing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Grandpa Potts. The British legend only directed a few other films but starred in many TV series and films including Childrens series Woof! and dramas such as Minder, Inspector Morse and Lovejoy. He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1966 for Best Actor (Musical/Comedy) for his role in the film The Spy with a Cold Nose but didn’t win. He passed away at a nursing home in Dorset today and leaves behind his wife is survived by his wife Eilieen Walsh and their three children.
