ALLEYCATS – A new feature film by Ian Bonhote – Kickstarter Project

ALLEYCATS is an action-thriller set in the London alleycat bicycle racing scene. Alleycats are a real phenomenon, illegal bike races that take place in major cities across the globe. The film will show London in a new light, revealing an underground sub-culture that few know about. High-octane and driven by an exciting, twisting plot, the film will appeal to a broad audience.

HOW IT CAME ABOUT

ALLEYCATS is an independent British movie that will be filmed in and around London. The film has been in development for almost 7 years, director Ian Bonhote wrote a first draft with writer Max Kinnings that was nearly selected for funding from Film London back in 2009. Despite just missing out on the money they continued with the project, until learning that Hollywood movie PREMIUM RUSH was being made. The film also features a courier as the lead character, so ALLEYCATS went on hold. It wasn’t until after PREMIUM RUSH came out and the team realised it was a very different film to the one they were trying to make that ALLEYCATS kicked off again. They then filmed a short film as a ‘proof of concept’ and the rest is history!

THE CAST

The cast includes Eleanor Tomlinson, known for JACK THE GIANT SLAYER and ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and soon to appear as a lead in upcoming BBC series POLDARK. The film also stars John Hannah, a well-known face on the big and small screen; he is known for iconic movies like FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL and SLIDING DOORS, and his recent work includes SPARTACUS and DAMAGES. Camilla Rutherford is also confirmed. Her credits include GOSFORD PARK, ROME, THE DARJEELING LIMITED and FLEMING.

THE KICKSTARTER

The ALLEYCATS production team are running a Kickstarter campaign to raise some extra money for the fast-paced action scenes in the film. Kickstarter is a crowd-funding platform; if you want to support the film you can pledge money in return for a selection of ‘rewards’ ranging from a copy of the film, to a visit to the set, to owning exclusive bikes and other props used during the shoot. The campaign is coming to a close this week, so if you want to check it out you need to take a look soon! http://kck.st/1Df5s3F
