If you happened to be at Brick Lane last weekend, it might have looked a bit… 8 bit! Don’t worry, cubism is not back, but Wreck-It Ralph is! The anti-hero of 80′ arcade game Fix-It Felix finally got out of Felix’s shadow in the new Walt Disney picture. 8 Bit Lane exhibition offered pixelated clouds, blocky minicab, right-angle pigeons and while admiring all these wonders, you had to be careful not to step into a little square dog poo.
Ralph’s 8bit world at the Truman Brewery was created by sculptor Aden Hynes, also known for his iconic Pink Floyd stage props, or Iron Maiden’s Eddie. The original arcade game was also there to be played, but in case nostalgia is not your thing, you could have used your smart-phone’s Blippar app and play the game on the world’s first blippable building.
Wreck-It Ralph premiers in the UK cinemas on 8 February and the quality that we are used to from Walt Disney together with Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) as a director promises a great show.
