I doubt many people will have heard of the rock band Anvil. I’m very much into music and i’d not heard much about them – mainly because they failed to become superstars.
As 2 young boys Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow and Robb Reiner got together and formed a band and made a pact to rock together forever and its true – they still are.
The film is a sort of documentary that charts their history up to the present day. In the 80’s they were on tour with other rock legends such as Metallica, Bon Jovi, Megadeath and Slayer. All the others went on to become worldwide superstars in the rock world but sadly Anvil did not.
20 odd years later, they are still together and still chasing the dream that they are going to make it into the big time.
The tale follows them behind the scenes as they struggle on, trying to get picked up by a major record label. They go on a European Tour organised by a fan Tiziana Arrigoni who becomes their manager.
Its a very funny and ultimately sad story of how they have soldiered on when they clearly never have any chance of becoming the rock gods they want to be.
