Peter Serafinowicz Bio

Who is he?
Peter Szymon Serafinowicz, born 10 July 1972 in Liverpool. He is a British actor, comedian, voice actor, writer and director.

What he’s best known for?
He is best known for playing Pete in Shaun of the Dead and dubbing the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. This is as well as acting, writing and voice acting a number of well-regarded British and US television shows and advertisements.

His most recent work?
Most recently he provided the voice over for a series of brand new adverts for used car website Motors.co.uk as part of their Cars without the Carfuffle campaign. He is also providing the voice of Chemist ‘M’ in Axe Cop the animated adaptation of the graphic novels of the same name. In 2013, he starred as Lord Edgar Covington in Parks and Recreation, a US TV show following a group of inept mid-level public officials.

Serafinowicz also has a role the eagerly-awaited Muppets Most Wanted, also starring Ray Liotta, Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Stanley Tucci.

Must-watch things he’s appeared in?
The Peter Serafinowicz Show, a sadly short-lived sketch show consisting of only seven episodes. Despite being short-lived, this much-maligned series garnered its creator and star the Best Entertainer prize at the Rose d’Or ceremony in 2008. This is alongside a nomination for Best Comedy Programme at the BAFTA Television Awards in 2009.

Look Around You, devised by Serafinowicz and his brother James, and starring Serafinowicz, is a spoof of educational programmes from the 1970s. The first series (broadcast in 2002) consists of eight 10-minute shorts which spoof the schools programmes such the BBC’s Schools and Colleges and ITV’s Experiment.

The second series, runs along similar lines, but consists of half hour episodes that ape science programs like BBC’s popular and long-running Tomorrow’s World. Both series act as both homage to a bygone era and as satire, both series feature a mixture of the totally absurd and the remarkably authentic.

He actually voiced three characters in Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999): the Battle Droid Commander who asks Qui-Gon-Jinn to identify himself and the Gunman Scout using large binoculars, exclaims ‘they’s a-coming!’, as well as Darth Maul.
