It must have been a busy week for the casting director of Conan, with not one, not two but three stars added to the swords and sorcery flick. New York Magazine are reporting that Ron ‘Hellboy‘ Perlman has replaced Mickey Rourke as Conan’s father, Corin, whilst The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Said Taghmaoui and Stephen Lang have also joined the production. Conan himself has already been cast, with the dreadlocked Jason Momoa of Stargate: Atlantis fame bringing the fresh take on Robert E Howard’s character to the big screen.
Taghmaoui, who you may recognise from the likes of Lost, G.I Joe, The Kite Runner and Three Kings, will be playing the leader of a group of thieves who owes Conan his life when the warrior saves him. Lang, who everyone in the world recently saw chewing up the scenery as Colonel Quaritch in Jim Cameron’s Avatar, will step back into a villain’s shoes as a ruler in search of a queen whose blood will bring life to the demonic minions of a long-lost god. Sounds pretty epic, Conan is already filming and should hit our screens within the next twelve months.
