Avatar DVD/Blu-Ray Launch Events

This Sunday the box office breaking Avatar is released on DVD and Blu-ray, and Twentieth Century Fox are marking the occasion with a few special events.

Avatar: Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch

At 4pm this Sunday (the 25th April) at HMV on Oxford Street there will be a special signing session with actor Stephen Lang, who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch in the film. Customers will receive exclusive Avatar goodies, including the opportunity (using green screen technology) to have their picture taken in the world of Pandora, see Stephen interviewed live on stage, plus have the very first copies of the Blu-ray and DVD signed.

Its expected to be a very busy event so 400 wristbands will be issued for access to the event, available from 10am on a first come first served basis, one per customer only.

Avatar: The Tree of Souls

From Saturday the 24th to Moday 26th April a giant interactive and fibre optic ‘Tree Of Souls’ at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park will also be erected, being officially unveiled by Stephen Lang. Visitors will have the opportunity to ‘bring the tree to life’, manipulating its lights and colour by plugging their phones and iPods into the tree, and can send it messages pictures and updates. By plugging portable music systems into the tree it will glow and pulsate in time with the music being played.

This sounds like an immense event so make sure you check it out this weekend! If your not in London we’ve had a look for you and the current cheapest price for the DVD on is at £9.99 or £14.99 for the Blu-ray (which bizzarely seems to come with the DVD version as well)
