Tom has been waiting for Christmas since, well last Christmas. It is a dream come true when he finds Santa in his shed. The only problem is that he has crashed his sleigh into it and needs to get it up and running to save Christmas! It is no easy task getting a crashed and broken sleigh from London to Lapland but if anyone is up to it, then Steve (Toms dad) is….Kind of. Problems however keep on adding up. They have reindeer on the run in London. Santa is currently in Prison and not good to get out. They think he is mad as a hatter. Then finally they have the problem of Steve hating heights, speed and Christams….kind of.
I am going to shout this out. This is a xmas movie. This is an xmas movie that is filled with xmas things. Filled to the brim with xmas gunk. So you guys have to give it a break and I have to keep that in mind.
I love xmas movies that want nothing from the audience than to entertain. I love them more when they try to play a little bit with it as well. I love them even more, when they cramp a whole load of glitz and glam but only to send it right up! These films are great because they want to make it fun for everyone. They also want to do something that film rarely does. It becomes an adventure of cinema. New ideas flow along with old and we have a sure fire hit. The polar Express is not this type of film. Flat in many way. Scrooged is this in droves and is smashing. This film does none of these things really. It has no bounce or adventure of the kind I love. It is a simple story of Santa. Santa caught very short and stuffed in a hole. He does stuff. He is mad, sad and then glad. Kids will love it, adults will yawn and I switched off. Not once but twice. That is bad… But wait it is harmless and it is xmas. It has that spirit and it doesnt want us to be overly analytical. It just wants to get a group of people together and those people have fun. Or not…
The DVD is bland…
Two featurettes that are so/so. The film looks nice….thats it…Its not great….Buy in Xmas and repent for ever…
